VILLANI Giovanni, LA CRONACA (dall’anno MCCLXXX AL MCCCXII), Venezia, s.e., 1833. Volume in 8°, [ii],589,[2], with an author’s lithograph portrait as frontispiece by Motta and title lithograph by Rizzardini.
Villani was considered the most important Italian historian of the XIV cent. and this book a valuable essay on the economical, civic and social life in Florence. First edition in Venice, 1537, by Barth Zanetti.
Beautiful modern binding in brown half leather; back with 5 nerves with titles and some decorations in gold; marbled plates and end papers; clean and tight inside, with some obvious errors in the numbering of the pages. Modest signs of aging on the interior (small, very rare spots, some edge browning); the text is in two columns in a frame.
