Madeleine-Angélique de Gomez, French novelist and playwright (1684 1770). “secret stories”, with a historical framework but of an anecdotal nature, and tackles the sequel to the Fun Days, a best-seller of a didactic and journalistic nature, the first volume of which was published in 1722.

Text in French. Volumes 1, 3 & 4 in very good condition. Original brown calfskin; 5 raised bands to spine; tooling gilt designs to spine, boards; marbled endpapers; solid bindings.  

First edition of a collection of historical anecdotes relating to the Ottoman Empire, organized chronologically and regionally.

Madeleine–Angélique Poisson de Gomez gives us here secret stories with a historical framework but of an anecdotal and amusing nature, the work is in fact a fairly simple history of the Ottoman Empire until 1699.

Good condition of the bindings, works in their full original green leather, cracks and gaps visible at the level of the joints see photos, a soaring cap, gaps on the back of the first volume, edges pigmented with red, spine with raised bands, volume number and title gold on morocco piece –
