Walker (engraver), 1. “Plan of the port of Navarino”, 2.”Plan of the Palaiokastro of Navarino”,London, 1828. The two sea charts, 18x12cm each one, present the whole bay of Navarino including the shallow north part of the bay, with soundings. These charts are reduced versions of the original British admiralty sea charts used in the naval battle of Navarino by the British Navy ships. None of the large original lithographed nautical charts, drawn by admiral Smith in 1825 and engraved also by Walker (the official engraver of the Admiralty), has survived. These reduced versions, engraved by Walker for a book about the naval battle & published just after the triumph in London in 1828, are the only contemporary printed testimonies of these large sea charts used on the battlefield.
