FIRST EDITION. 8vo,pp. xiii, 596, [2]. Samuel Sheridan Wilson was selected by Stanhope to lead the missionary work in the revolted Greece, arriving first to Malta (1819) and to Greece in 1824. In this rare work Wilson describes the work of the Mission in Greece, the life of the people also providing information about the events of the Greek Revolution.
Coloured frontispiece printed in oil colours by G. Baxter, title-page vignette, large illustrated headpiece on chapter one (view of Malta) and some in-text illustrations. Original blind-stamped cloth covers. Externally rubbed, bumped corners, just occasional spotting inside.
