Scarce edition of this important treatise on China, first issued in 1585 (Rome, in Spanish). The work was conducted by the Spanish Augustinian Juan Gonzalez de Mendoza and is considered the most comprehensive and popular book on Ming China to appear in Europe.

Contemporary full vellum, with title handwritten on spine. External soiling and rubbing. Water-stain throughout, small wormholes from ff.200 – more evident from ff.214-220 & 238-241, last leaves with teared the upper mainly marginal parts, first blanc leaf loose. Bibliothek stamp on title page.
