HITLER Adolf, "My Battle (Mein Kampf) / Abridged and Translated by E. T. S. Dugdale", Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston: The Riverside Press Cambridge, 1937. An early printing of the first US edition of Mein Kampf (first printing 1933), the only English translation available until 1939. In 8vo, frontispiece, viii, 297pp. An abridged and translated version of Adolf Hitlers "Mein Kampf", the book was published in English in 1937 before the true horror of Hitlers German rule was wholly apparent and prior to the outbreak of World War II. Dugdale, a Zionist married to Lord Balfours niece, kept his name off the UK edition, apparently to avoid controversy. No jacket. Original brown cloth with red titles, minimal shelf wear; spine slightly faded; binding is firm and internal pages very clean overall. Excellent copy.
