Spine opened, upper cover detached, some scattered very light spotting, overall a good copy. Allard travelled in the Ottoman Empire during the 1850s. He was a French doctor attached to the French army in Eastern Rumelia (now Bulgaria) during Crimean war. He wrote also another work for eastern Bulgaria. In this one he described his wider travels in the Levant, particularly in the Greek Archipelago (Chios, Rhodes, Kos etc), Constantinople and several other ports (echelles) of Thrace and Anatolia. A whole chapter is consecrated to the Greeks of the Ottoman Levant. Very Rare.
