Contemporary full calf leather, spine very richly gilt, text and plates clean ,overall a fine set. Struys (1629-1694) travelled extensively in the Levant, Russia and Asia several times from 1647 to 1673 and his accounts are among the best of the golden age of travelling. He stayed in Greece during the Cretan war in the 1650s, when he fought for the Venetians. He provides vivid descriptions of the Greek islands, including fine views of Tinos and Patmos.
