Walsh, “Narrative of a journey from Constantinople to England”, London 1828. First edition. In 8vo 19x12cm, contemporary green cloth slightly rubbed, spine faded. Complete and as called for: 415p., 5 lithographs, two large folding maps (42x40cm, Balkans and 23x20cm Constantinople) and one folding facsimile. Walsh visited two times Constantinople, in 1820-24 during which he made many extensive expeditions through the Balkans and Anatolia and again in 1830. This work describes his return from his first trip and deals almost exclusively with Constantinople, Thrace and the Balkans. Sothebys remarked that even the second edition of this narrative (Atabey collection 1313) is rare. The first edition (missing at Atabey and Blackmer) is very rare.
