Normann, “Armenia and the campaign of 1877”, London 1878. First edition. In 8vo 22x15cm. Contemporary publishers burgundy cloth rubbed. Upper cover detached, chipped parts on lower spine. Missing almost half of title page, inside clean though. Text complete [20] 484p. and 6 (of 7) maps, generally poor condition. Norman, a British journalist had been sent in Armenia to cover the Russo-Turkish war in the eastern front. He travelled through Trebizond and the Pontos hinterland to Erzeroum. He gives precise details of his travel and of the operations in the front during 1877. He openly underlined that he arrived philo-Turk but his mind had changed after what he saw. A very precious travel account for Armenia and Pontos. Not in Atabey or Blackmer.
