The editor of current work, Bernard de Montfaucon was a French Benedictine monk of the Congregation of Saint Maur. He was an astute scholar who founded the discipline of palaeography, he examined and described various manuscripts and he was editor of works of the Fathers of the Church. He is regarded as one of the founders of the modern discipline of archaeology. Contemporary binding: full vellum, soiled, rubbed and creased externally, with addition of contemporary vellum strips enhancing corners, interior with occasional foxing & spotting, water-stain signs on upper corner of mainly the first 50 pages.
