Important collection of the laws of the Serenissima edited by Rizzardi Griffo, published for the first time in 1606 and subsequently revised and enlarged by some doges. The issues taken into consideration cover many areas, from civil to criminal ones. Title page with woodcut printer’s device, depicting a female figure with scales and sword, personification of Justice, on two lions. At the end of the Prattica summary, the Primus Liber Statutorum opens, preceded by a full-page engraving depicting the lion of St. Mark. Latin text, with Italian translation on the front, enriched by some historiated woodcut initials and other typographic ornaments. COMPLETE work. Half leather bound of the period, marbled boards; worn spine, cracked hinges and bumped corners; clean and tight inside, marbled end pages; handwritten notes in Greek on inner boards and first page. The p. 424 repeated in the numbering. Rare and Good copy overall.
