Jean Astruc was the first doctor of the Polish king Auguste II and professor at Montpellier and Paris, advisor to Luis XV and the first one to wrote the first great treatise on sexually transmitted infections.
Full calf contemporary binding, 5 nerves spine with golden fleurons and red morroco title label with gilt lettering; visible rubbing throughout, bumped corners. Marbled endpapers and edges, foxing and scattered spotting inside, tight binding; a few handwritten pen notes on first two pages, otherwise clean. Blake 22. Good copy.
