ORIGINAL EDITION of this first translation. Frontispiece by Villiers Huet, engraved by Huet. Text in French. René Tourlet, born in Amboise in 1757, is a former doctor who devoted himself to study of the Greek language. We also owe him translations of Pindar and Julien.

Contemporary half calf binding with corners, gilt back, coloured edges, slight rubbing and bumping. Marbled endpapers, clean and tight binding; some foxing, scattered spotting. Nice copy.
