This work, that achieved an amazing success in Europe, gives full expression to Pouqueville’s philhellenic sentiments, which developed during the ten years he spent as French consul at Ioannina with Ali Pasha.

Private clothed binding, leather title label on spines with gilt lettering; dull covers, slightly bumped corners; cracked hinges inside, spine semi-detached in Volume 2. Marbled edges, clean and tight interior. Some foxing and spotting throughout. Scattered Insect marks. Good copy overall.
