In large 8vo volumes, p. XI-675-[4], [4]-603-[4] and 668-[4]. Enriched with total of 12 beautiful polychrome fold-out geographical maps, engraved by Decorbie, 13 engraved illustration plates out of text including the portrait of the author in frontispiece, on strong paper and under serpente, engraved by Giroux, Laderer, Colin, Adam, Pigeot, Nargeot, Chaillot, Wolf, etc. This second edition is as rare as the first, published at the address of Blois in 1834-1835, in only two volumes. The author, a librarian in Blois, produced a compilation there, the model of which was soon to become familiar, but which was still new at the time: next to the dates, three columns (facts, progress of the human mind, comparative geography ) offer a synoptic panorama of universal history.

Contemporary bound half brown leather, spine with four false nerves separating decorated and gilded boxes, title and volume number gilded; spines heavy worn, partly detached, marbled carton boards in better condition, slightly rubbed. Clean inside, but with visible foxing and spotting, rather tight. Some folding maps edges are creased, but compete. Uncommon and Good copy.
