New edition (the first in 1730), very popular until the middle of the 19th century. An anthology of the ancient theatre, and a comparative study between modern and ancient theatrical expression. Contemporary full calfskin, spines with golden fleuron decorations, red Morocco labels with title in gilt and volume number, red edges. Rubbed on extremities and joints, small chipped parts on spine edges, bumped corners. Clean and tight inside, except of light browning. Ex libris cachets to title pages. Good copy. Brunet I 1290.
