First edition. With 12 full-page plates (including 2 frontispieces), missing the folding map of Greece. This work of the French poet Adelaide Dufrenoy is dedicated to Greece and the Greek Revolution, printed within the frame of the European Philhellenism movement.  The first volume deals with description of the Ottoman Greece while the second volume stresses the war incidents of the Greek revolution. Two volumes with differing binding: 1st volume with contemporary full calf, spine tooled in gilt antitle/vol.number in red & green morocco (external wear & rubbing, fine inside). 2nd volume with contemporary marbled calf boards paneled in gilt, missing the spine that has been replaced by modern cloth (external wear & rubbing, spotting inside).
