22.8.1936. IA “Scipio” crash flight, cover franked with stamps from India, posted on 17.8.36, crashed at MIRABELLA BAY on 22.8.36 and the mail delivered either by the next IA flight or by rail via PARIS to LONDON where it was handstamped with “DAMAGED BY SEA WATER” in violet type CAC4, (Hellas CF19). Although a large part of the mail was salvaged, covers from India are rare (mail reported originating from Australia, Hong Kong & Singapore mostly).
