Rare detailed travel account of Asia Minor just after the ending of Russo-Turkish war of 1877/78. Henry Barkley, British writer, started his travels in Anatolia in autumn 1878 and covered vast areas of the peninsula passing through Bursa, Ankara, Kaisaria, Adana before heading north towards Armenia and the Pontic area. He provides a vivid picture of the multinational Ottoman society with valuable geographical and ethnological details and few some archaeological information.
