Impressive copper engr. dim. 51x41cm, divided in two parts. On lower part a detailed map of Crete of the 17th century. The upper part, presents a prospect of Candia (Heraklion) under siege by the Ottoman Turks during the Veneto-Turkish War (1648-1669). An extended key of 33 place-marks provide rich information about the positions of the troops and the defences of Candia. Stain on scale-bar (lower left corner) and six light spots on upper part. Signs of light creases and tears prob. repaired. In wooden frame (not examined out of frame). Zacharakis 3631.
