French text. First published in Latin in 1620, this is the first French translation of De Thous Memoirs. De Thou was an important historian of his times and an avid book collector. Important essay for the political history of France and Europe in the 16th century, written by J.A. de Thou and partly by Rigault from his notes and manuscripts.

Contemporary full dark brown calf, 5 raised bands on spine with gilt title and decoration; some rubbing, rather cracked outer hinges, bumped corners, a few wormholes on boards, near the spine. Engraved title vignette, red and black lettered title page, no frontispiece. Coloured endpapers, some foxing and spotting inside, but clean and tight. Good copy.
