[4], 36, [2], 9 plates. With the publication of the temple at the triangular forum in Pompeii, Friedrich von Duhn (1851-1930) exemplified the Greek roots of Pompeii. The book is enriched with detailed excavational plans and designs of the finds. 

During his travels with the German Archaeological Institute, von Duhn focused on the geography and excavation results of the countries he had visited. His main interest was the early days of Italy. Thanks to his in-depth knowledge of Italian archeology and the resulting contacts with his Italian colleagues, he enjoyed a high reputation there. But he was also highly respected by Wilhelm II, whom he occasionally accompanied on trips.

Ex libris perforated seals. Green cloth bound, gilt title on spine, covers rather rubbed mainly on edges. Slight foxing, rather loose binding in the middle (pages 33-36 almost detached). Complete and clean though. Scarce copy.
