Printer’s vignette on title page; impressive full page copper engraving on the reverse of the title, with large coat of arms of f the Archbishorpic of Mainz and thus also of the Electorate of Mainz (Kurmainz) and 150 copper engravings of Roman coins in text. Richly decorated early numismatic book with numerous of copper plates, each showing the front and the back of Roman coins, along with text giving short biographical information on the emperors depicted. The selected coins came from the personal collection of the versatile scholar and bookseller Hulsius (circa 1546-1606). Contemporary full leather bound, with red label and title in gilt on spine. Visible external wear, dull and rubbed mainly at edges. Tight inside, occasional black ink inscriptions.
