ANVILLE Jean Baptiste B. d’, “CYPRUS / De la Haye / Pour le Mémoire sur l’Isle de Cypre…”, 1762.

The very important map of Cyprus by Jean Baptiste B. d’ Anville. The map is considered as a breakthrough for the cartography of Cyprus, as the map was prepared based on a manuscript map by an anonymous Greek cartographer that seems to have carried out a detailed triangulation of Cyprus during the 18th century. The triangulations are indicated in the map and the place-names have been updated including the contemporary names along the ancient ones.  Contemporary outline colouring.
