R. Kipling, an English journalist, short-story writer, poet, and novelist, is well-known for “The Jungle Book” (1894), Kim (1901) and many short stories and poems. Born in India, from which he inspired much of his work and his innovative stories for children. Kipling was one of the most popular writers in the British Empire, in both prose and verse, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature in 1907.

Original publisher’s red cloth, with gilt lettering and illustration to upper cover and spine; slightly edge rubbed and bumped. Top edge gilt, inner pages are age-tanned but clean, some hinge wear; fresh illustrations. A very nice copy overall.
