‘27.9.1936. Crash of ”Cant Z 506” at Benghazi (Libya). Air cover posted on 25.9.36 from Asmara to Roma by ”Ala Littoria” (arr. 10.X.36). The seaplane to Italy was carrying the mail of the Italian troops at war in Ethiopia. For an unknown reason fire broke out and it crashed at Benghazi. The mail was partly recovered and was forwarded to destination after a special red cachet “Ricuperata Incendio / idrovolante I-RODI” was applied. Nierinck 360927a.’
