A work of fiction evolving in ancient Greece, first published in 1798 and meeting a tremendous success, translated into English, Italian, Spanish, German & modern Greek. There are obvious similarities with the also very successful work of Barthelemy “Anacharsis”. Ex-libris “Βιβλιοθήκη Σπ. Λοβέρδου” in gilt on pastedown. Contemporary full tree-calf, title and volume number of Morocco strips on spine. External rubbing and wear on edges, corners, joints and spines heads and feet. Few scratches, bumped spots on covers. Spotting inside.
