Edwin Augustus Grosvenor (August 30, 1845 – September 15, 1936) was a historian, author, chairman of the history department at Amherst College and he served several years as a tutor at Robert College in Constantinople. His work is a comprehensive work on the history and the antiquities of Constantinople richly illustrated with contemporary photographic material.

Original binding with the two headed eagle – the emblem of the late Byzantine Empire – centerpieces in gilt on both volumes front boards. Light external wear, inside in very fine condition.
