Frontispiece is a map “The Balkan Peninsula”, 10 maps in text and 1 folding (out of text). The author seeks to approach the diplomatic and military conflicts known as the eastern question, which involved the five main European powers Great Britain, France, Prussia (later Germany), and Russia, and their relation to the Ottoman Empire, the Balkans, and Asia Minor in general. Original blue canvas bound, gilt title on spine, visibly rubbed and bumped on edges. Clean and tight inside, slight foxing, humidity marks on edges and lower back cover. Good copy.
