Splendid copper engraved map of “New” Greece with fine original hand-colouring. Reaching to the East Constantinople, to the South Rhodes & Peloponnese, to the West the Ionian Islands and to the North Dubrovnic, Skopje & Sozopol. Impressive title cartouche bearing an armed Ottoman on one side and an ancient Greek armed woman figure, under a putti holding a banner with the inscription “Inter arma silent Musae” [When arms speak, Muses are silent], referring to the oppression of the Greek world under the Ottoman rule.
