Tournefort Joseph Pitton de, “Relation d un Voyage au Levant”, Lyon, 1717. Second edition, the first in octavo, published the same year with the first. The two first volumes (of 3), covering all the visited Greek areas up to Constantinople (3rd volume covers Asia Minor not offered in current set). Pp.[20], 379, [4], [2], 448 and the ninety (90) fine copper engraved plates. Contemporary full leather rubbed, very light scattered browning inside, overall very good. Tournefort visited the Levant in 1700 together with the famous painter Aubrieu who drawn the plates. These splendid plates include fine views of Greek cities and landscapes, people of the Levant, maps and plans ,forming a comprehensive collection of 90 copper engraved plates for Greece. Ex libris of Max von Uechtritz (with a very interest marginalia note at the end of each volume: red, with satisfaction, Berlin 1763), a Prussian early Orientalist.
