Jean Maigre, known as Boucicault, (1366-1421) was a skilled French military leader who took part in Nicopolis battle (1396) against the Ottomans. He escaped captivity and had been sent with a small army of only 1.200 men to assist the Byzantines against the Ottomans around Constantinople, in 1399-1401. His military acts against the Ottomans made him famous and proved that a well-disciplined larger army could stop them. Boucicault travelled widely in the Levant, later in the service of several Italian cities, visiting many places in Greece during his campaigns. His narrative contain precious and unique information for the late medieval Levant. VERY RARE. Not in Atabey or Blackmer.
