Ubicini (1818-1884) was a French journalist who stayed long time in the Levant. This is his rarest work. A detailed presentation of the Ottoman empire at the eve of the Russo-Turkish war of 1877/78. The description of the non Muslim populations and their condition in the Ottoman State is very detailed. All the second part of the book deals with the Greeks, the Armenians, the Israelis, the Bulgarians and the Latins. He provides also very detailed numbers and estimations of the races and religion of the population, from very reliable sources. VERY RARE.
