Complete with 15 fine handcoloured aquatints on 11 plates. Full calf, panelled gilt boards, raised bands and decorations in gilt on spine, gilt edges. Occasional spotting. A very good copy. Adam Neale travelled in Constantinople in 1805 via Jassi in Moldavia and the Black sea coastline. He was one of the first Europeans that could be use freely the Black sea itinerary, blocked by the Ottomans for centuries. His vivid descriptions are accompanied by the fine coloured aquatints, that are considered the first to depict everyday life scenes from the Black Sea regions. Atabey 859, Blackmer 1186
