New edition (the first in 1730), very popular until the middle of the 19th century, the most famous of the Jesuit Brumoy (1688-1742); not a simple anthology of the ancient theatre, but a comparative study between modern and ancient theatrical expression. Full calfskin, spine with golden fleuron decoration, red Morocco label with title in gilt and volume number, red edges (contemporary binding); slightly rubbed on extremities, bumped corners.
