Engraved title, letterpress dedication leaf, allegorical plate showing the Lion of St Mark over a miniature map of Crete & 57 plates, plans and maps (9 folding). Coloured by a contemporary hand. Folio (31 x 22mm). Contemporary leather. Although this 1651 edition is widely referred with 61 plates, the large number of existing copies ending with 57 plates, could indicate an alternative edition for this monumental work. Tears & occasional small pinholes on folding plates, repaired. Chipped corner of Crete map numbered “1”. Signs of water-stain on sheets lower corners & edges. Zacharakis 592-638, 640
