Original binding with front & back covers embedded with silk, engraved on front cover. Wear along the edges and corners of the silk, soiled the back cover, interior in very fine condition.

Elisabeth Santi-Lomaca Chenier (1729 – 1808) was a Cypriot intellectual. She was born and raised in Constantinople, married in 1755 the French merchant Louis Sennier and lived in Paris from 1765. She was the mother of two famous French poets of the time, Andreas Maria Senier, and Joseph Senier (1764-1811). She was very active supporter of the Greek struggle for independence and her house was the meeting place of the philhellenic organization “Ελληνόγλωσσο Ξενοδοχείο / Hôtel Hellénophone”.
