Coronelli Vincenzo M., “Golfo della Prevesa”, c.1690. Very detailed view of a part of the west coast of Greece, covering the Gulf of Amvrakikos, the town of Preveza and part of Lefkada. Fine inset of the fortress city of Preveza guarding the inlet. Produced during one of the Venetian-Turkish wars. Large figurative cartouche bearing Venetian & Ottoman armed men, topped with Foscari coat of Arms. Map features Coronelli’s typically beautiful and bold engraving style. Clean, with dark impression. Lightly creased with two marginal holes at the edges of the middle-fold (self-adhesive tape placed on these points). Zacharakis 1057.
