Engraved frontispiece on both tomes, along with 15 more full page copper engravings at the begining of every chapter. Preface by Abbot de La Landelle de Saint-Remy, the Adventures of Aristonous and three dialogues.

Bound in full calf of the period, with five raised bands on back, gilt floral decoration and title label. Blindstamped ornamental borders on board edges, all edges of boards gilt. Visibly rubbed covers, hinges cracked and a few insect holes along spine. Marbled end papers, red edge pages, slight brownspotting, but internally a very nice copy. Good condition overall.
