FIRST EDITION. COMPLETE: 2 volumes bound in 5. Folio (54 x 35cm), pp. XII, xvj, 204 + 176 + 177-346 + 347-452 + XII, 453-518. Including 3 engraved titles and 285 numbered engraved plates, maps and plans with tissue-guards, occasional half-page illustrations in the text, engraved portrait of the author in volume 3, engraved head- and tail-pieces.

Contemporary paper boards with original labels to spines of all volumes with the exception of vol. 1 which is repaired, rebacked (modern cloth spine). All volumes except Vol.I placed in thick modern cloth case wraps. External wear, heavy rubbing, worn edges with small losses, joints partly cracked. Occasional spotting, creasing and browning inside.
