Dallaway spent 18 months in Constantinople as chaplain to Listons embassy. He travelled in Troad in 1794 along with the draughtsman G. Mercati that prepared the drawings included in the current edition (engr. by Bovinet). Contemporary full tree-calf, spine decorated in gilt with title on red Morocco stripes. Ex-libris label “Βιβλιοθήκη Σπ. Λοβέρδου” in gilt on both volumes. One frontispiece missfolded. Worming, more evident to the first and last sheets of the volumes and the pastedowns, with traces over the covers and spine. Covers lightly soiled, ext. light rubbing. Atabey 309, Contominas 183.
