Oblong 4to, pp.14 + an engraved title page and 16 tissue-guarded full-page plates. Scarce edition published by the author at his own expense. The plates present imaginary reconstructions of principal ancient Greek and Roman architectural features such as forum, portique, Atrium and including a depiction of the Acropolis, providing also insights of urban life by depicting people surrounding the urban structures. Spotting inside, mainly on white margins, round ex-libris cachets on title page and on some of the plates. Leather spine, carton marbled boards, wear along extremities.
Jules-Frédéric Bouchet was a talented architect, draughtsman and engraver. His interest and studies on the Classical and Roman antiquities and their influence on Renaissance architecture, significantly affected his architecture projects.
