[IONIAN ISLANDS] Papers Respecting Recent Changes in the Constitution of the Ionian Islands. // Presented to both Houses of Parliament by Command of Her Majesty. August 14, 1850. United States of the Ionian Islands (Ηνωμένο Κράτος των Ιονίων Νήσων) was a Greek semi-autonomous state and amical protectorate of the United Kingdom between 1815 and 1864. The above papers of the Constituitional changes took place some time before the official proposition of the resolution for the enosis of the Ionian Islands with Greece, by the Radical member of the Ionian parliament John Detoratos. In fact, a few years later (1864), Great Britain, Greece, France, and Russia signed the Treaty of London, pledging the transfer of sovereignty to Greece upon ratification.
