ABBOTT G. F., "TURKEY, GREECE and the GREAT POWERS / a study in friendship and hate", Scott, London, 1916. In 8vo, p. [6],384 + 2 folded maps at the begining and at the end. The author was an English war correspondent in southwestern Europe for several London newspapers until 1903. Sympathetic to the Greek cause, he stayed in Thessaloniki for some time, while he visited some other sites of central Macedonia (Serres, Drama, Kavala, Mount Athos), studing the folklore of the region.  Accompanied by two Abbots articles about the Greek issue ("The Greco-Servian Treaty" and "The Landing at Salonica: A Queer Story") for "THE NATIONAL WEEKLY" magazine, along with a telegram from the magazines editor to John Mavrogordato, informing him that the articles were suppressed due to "lack of National interest"! Original red cloth, gilt title on spine, some edgewear. Clean and tight inside, pages are lightly tanned with noticeable foxing throughout. Folded maps are lightly tanned with small tears and creases to edges. Good copy.
