The most comprehensive and reliable contemporary french description of California including observations on mining, agriculture, industry, natural history and the population. There is also a long account of the authors journey into the Oregon’s territory similarly detailed.

Grey printed wrappers repaired, tight binding inside; foxing and spotting throughout, edges untrimmed. With a hard dust jacket, preserved in a half morocco slipcase. With the famous woodcut of the "50 Dolls" California gold piece "slug" on back wrapper. COWAN I, p. 198, II p. 549. Howes S-20, Smith 8927. Rare and Good copy.
