BARTHELEMY, J.J, (Abbe), “Voyage du JEUNE ANACHARSIS en Grece - ATLAS” / vers le milieu du quatrième siècle avant lEre Vulgaire. Atlas, rédigé et gravé pae Ambroise Tardieu, Paris, LEQUIEN E.A., 1824.

An edition printed during the Greek Revolution, COMPLETE with all the 38 plans and views included. Barthélemy studied the works of Greek and Roman authors relying also on the well-documented investigations of J. Foucherot and Choiseul-Gouffier, made on the spot. In the atlas he includes accurate representations of the most important locations and battlefields, with all the maps designed by the eminent French cartographer and engraver, Ambroise Tardieu.

Contemporary half leather binding, marbled boards; spine decorated in gilt, external wear mainly along extremities. Occational foxing and spotting inside, clean and tight overall. Good copy.
