DAPPER Olfert, “Cyprus Insula”, 1688. Rare copper plate map of Cyprus, dim. 38.5x29cm. The map is based on the larger Blaeu’ s map issued c.1635 (Zacharakis 381, Stylianou entry 112), from which it has adopted the longitude corrections and toponymy. The title cartouche is different presenting again Aphrodite, Eros holding a heart & Poseidon. Sailing ships are depicted aound the island. Folded as issued. Paper strip along middle-fold, cut margins, spotting & stain on lower part of middle-fold.
