BRUMOY Pierre, “LE THEATRE DES GRECS”, Paris, Cussac, 1785-1789. COMPLETE in 13 Volumes. 8vo. Including all the impressive 22 copper plates (one of which frontispiece to the first vol.) engraved after Borel, Defraine, Le Barbier, Maréchal, Marillier etc. New enlarged edition (the first in 1730), very popular until the middle of the 19th century. An anthology of the ancient theatre, and a comparative study between modern and ancient theatrical expression. Fine contemporary full calfskin, spines with golden fleuron decorations, red Morocco labels with title in gilt and volume number, covers paneled in gilt. Light external rubbing and occasional bumping spots on few boards. Interior clean and tight. Overall an Excellent set. Brunet I 1290.
