Small 8vo, pp. 375, [3]. Modern binding (leather spine, cloth boards), minor spotting inside, overall a very fine copy.

ONE OF THE EARLIEST POCKET GUIDES ever printed for Greek antiquities. With the initial wave of travelers visiting Athens and other renowned sites of Ancient Greece, the demand for compact, pocket-sized guides emerged. These travelers required concise guides containing essential knowledge of Greek art to identify significant artifacts on the spot. Lambert Bos, a prominent Dutch scholar and leading authority on Ancient Greek art in the early 18th century, published a thorough yet brief account of Greeces antiquities, and particularly of Athens. Very Rare. Querard I, 423.
